<br />~j <br /> <br />April 8, 2008 <br /> <br />reading, granting real estate and personal property tax exemption to Piedmont <br /> <br />Virginia Dental Health Foundation as a charitable and benevolent organization: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2008- <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia. in regular session held on March 25, 2008 and <br />pursuant to Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of Virginia, that Section 21-12 of the City Code be amended to add a subsection D as follows: <br />D. Taxation exemption for Piedmont Virginia Dental Health Foundation <br /> <br />After convening a duly advertised public hearing and considering the factors set forth in Code of Virginia S 58.1-3651 (B), the City <br />Council of Martinsville Virginia hereby ordains the following: <br />I. The Piedmont Virginia Dental Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization, is hereby classified and designated as a charitable and <br />benevolent organization within the context of Section 6(a)( 6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia. <br />2. Real and personal property owned by Piedmont Virginia Dentalllealth Foundation, and used exclusively for charitable and benevolent <br />purposes on a nonprofit basis, as set forth in paragraph I of this subsection, is hereby determined to be exempt from local real and <br />personal property taxation. <br />3. Continuance of the exemption shall be contingent on the continued use of the property in accordance with the purpose for which the <br />organization is classified or designated. <br /> <br />On a motion by Kathy Lawson, seconded by Ron Ferrill, with the following <br /> <br />recorded vote: Mr. Reynolds, aye; Mr. Clark, aye; Mrs. Lawson, aye; Mr. Ferrill, aye; <br /> <br />and Mr. Teague, aye, Council approved the following ordinance, on second reading, <br /> <br />granting real estate and personal property tax exemption to Martinsville- Henry <br /> <br />County Mental Health Association as a charitable and benevolent organization: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2008- <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville. Virginia. in regular session held on March 25, 2008 and <br />pursuant to Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of V irginia, that Section 21-12 of the City Code be amended to add a subsection E as follows: <br />E. Taxation exemption for Martinsville-Henry Co. Mental Health Association <br />After convening a duly advertised public hearing and considering the factors set forth in Code of Virginia * 58.1-3651 (B). the City <br />Council of Martinsville Virginia hereby ordains the following: <br />I. The Martinsville-Henry Co. Mental Health Association, a nonprofit organization, is hereby classified and designated as a charitable <br />and benevolent organization within the context of Section 6(a)( 6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia. <br />2. Real and personal property owned by Martinsville-Henry Co. Mental Health Association, and used exclusively for charitable and <br />benevolent purposes on a nonprofit basis, as set forth in paragraph I of this subsection. is hereby determined to be exempt from local real <br />and personal property taxation. <br />3. The Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association, a nonprofit organization, is hereby classified and designated as a charitable <br />organization within the context of Section 6( a)( 6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia. <br />2. Real and personal property owned by Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association. and used exclusively for charitable purposes on <br />a nonprofit basis, as set forth in paragraph I of this subsection. is hereby determined to be exempt from local real and personal property <br />taxation. <br />
