Taxation exemption for Grace Network of Martinsville & Henry Co., Inc. <br />After convening a duly advertised public hearing and considering the factors set forth in Code of Virginia * 58.1-3651 (B), the <br />City Council of Martinsville Virginia hereby ordains the following: <br />I. The Grace Network of Martinsville & Henry Co., Inc., a nonprofit organization. is hereby classified and designated as a charitable and <br />benevolent organization within the context of Section 6(a)( 6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia. <br />2. Real and personal property owned by Grace Network of Martinsville & Henry Co" Inc.. and used exclusively for charitable and <br />bencvolent purposes on a nonprofit basis, as set forth in paragraph I of this subsection, is hereby determined to be exempt from local real <br />and personal property taxation. <br />3. Continuance of the exemption shall be contingent on the continued use of the property in accordance with the purpose for which the <br />organization is classified or designated. <br /> <br />On a motion by Ron Ferrill, seconded by Gene Teague, with the following <br /> <br />recorded vote: Mr. Reynolds, aye; Mr. Clark, aye; Mr. Ferrill, aye; and Mr. Teague, <br /> <br />aye; Mrs. Lawson-abstained, Council approved the following ordinance, on second <br /> <br />reading, granting personal property tax exemption to Martinsville-Henry County <br /> <br />Christmas Parade Association, Inc. as a charitable organization: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2008- <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia. in regular session held on March 25. 2008 and <br />pursuant to Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of Virginia. that Section 2 I -12 of the City Code be amended to add a subsection B as follows: <br />B. Taxation exemption for Martinsville-Henry Co. Christmas Parade Assoc., Inc. <br />After convening a duly advertised public hearing and considering the factors set forth in Code of Virginia * 58.1-3651(B). the City <br />Council of Martinsville Virginia hereby ordains the following: <br />I. The Martinsville-Henry Co. Christmas Parade Assoc" Inc" a nonprotit organization. is hereby classitied and designated as a charitable <br />organization within the context of Section 6(a)( 6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia. <br />2. Personal property owned by Martinsville-Ilenry Co. Christmas Parade Assoc" Inc" and used exclusively for charitable purposes on a <br />nonprotit basis. as set forth in paragraph I of this subsection. is hereby determined to be exempt from local personal property taxation. <br />3. Continuance of the exemption shall be contingent on the continued use of the property in accordance with the purpose for which the <br />organization is classified or designated. <br /> <br />On a motion by Kathy Lawson, seconded by Gene Teague, with the following <br /> <br />recorded vote: Mr. Reynolds, aye; Mr. Clark, aye; Mrs. Lawson, aye; Mr. Ferrill, aye; <br /> <br />and Mr. Teague, aye, Council approved the following ordinance, on second reading, <br /> <br />granting real estate and personal property tax exemption to Habitat for Humanity as <br /> <br />a charitable and benevolent organization: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2008- <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virgini~ in regular session held on March 25. 2008 and <br />pursuant to Section 58. I -3651 of the Code of Virginia. that Section 21-12 of the City Code be amended to add a subsection C as follows: <br />C. Taxation exemption for Habitat for Humanity <br />After convening a duly advertised public hearing and considering the factors set forth in Code of Virginia * 58.1-3651 (B). the City <br />Council of Martinsville Virginia hereby ordains the following: <br />I. Habitat for Humanity. a nonprotit organization. is hereby classified and designated as a charitable and benevolent organization within <br />the context of Section 6(a)(6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia. <br />2. Real and personal property owned by Habitat for Humanity. and used exclusively for charitable and benevolent purposes on a <br />nonprofit basis. as set forth in paragraph I of this subsection. is hereby determined to be exempt from local real and personal property <br />t1L'Xation. <br />3.
