<br />SUMMARY OF NEEDS <br /> <br />Housing <br />o 82% of neighborhood housing units were rated as showing signs of deterioration. <br />o Two (2) housing units are vacant. <br />o Age of the neighborhood homes ranges from 20 - 70 years. <br />o Twelve (12) homes need to be rehabilitated, and ten (10) homes need to be <br />substantiall y reconstructed. <br />o Underutilized lots could be developed for affordable, single-family homes. <br />o Four (4) housing units lack complete indoor plumbing. <br /> <br />Low- and Moderate-Income <br />o 86% of current owner-occupants are LMI. <br />o 100% of current tenants are LMI. <br />o Nine (9) units are elderly-occupied households. <br />o Three (3) units are female-headed households. <br />o Eleven (11) units are handicap-occupied households. <br /> <br />Infrastructure <br />o Approximately 1,400 linear feet of waterline improvements are needed on Cherry <br />Street Extension and Jordan Street in addition to 3 new gate valves. <br />o A fire hydrant is needed on Jordan Street. <br />o Approximately 200 linear feet of storm drainage improvements are needed on Cherry <br />and Jordan Streets. <br />o Approximately 1,600 linear feet of sidewalk improvements are needed on Cherry <br />Street. <br />o Approximately 5,050 linear feet of curb and gutter improvements are need on Cherry <br />Street, Cherry Street Extension and Jordan Street. <br />o Cherry Street, Cherry Street Extension and Jordan Street needs repaving <br />o Two streets need turnarounds are needed on Cherry and Jordan Streets to provide for <br />better egress from the neighborhood. <br />D Cherry Street Extension needs to be widened in order to meet VDOT size regulations, <br />which will transfer is maintenance and associated costs over to their organization. <br />o Neighborhood stream needs to be cleaned and debris disposed of off-site. <br />D Neighborhood cleanup is needed to rid area of debris and trash. <br /> <br />Housing Production <br />o Underutilized parcels could be used for infill affordable housing. Many residents <br />have requested this. <br />
