<br />~o <br /> <br />T DES DAY <br /> <br />FER-;i.UAftY ili, 1956 <br /> <br />state Highway Engineers that the present entrance from the Dye Plant Road into <br /> <br />Highway #220 should be closed and abandoned. It also apreared from a statement by <br /> <br />the City Manager that the City of Martinsville mms the real estate on the East <br /> <br />side of the proposed section of the street to be abandoned, and that H. C. Lester <br /> <br />owns the portion of the l,'[est side of the Dye Plant Road proposed to be abandoned. <br /> <br />After bavi ng heard the City Manager I s explanation of the discontinuance of the said <br /> <br />portion of the Dye Plant Read, and after a general discussion by members of the <br /> <br />Council, Hr. Turner b_oved, which was seconded by :Hr. .[[alleer, and unanimously carried, <br /> <br />that p1Jrsuant to Section 15-766 of the Code of Virginia, that ~rr. Brooks R. Leavitt, <br />Mr. .Arthur Richardson, and I(ll'. Irvin'I'r. Ramsey are hereby appointed to go dO"l"m and <br />view the said situation and ascertain what, if any, incor::venience would result from <br /> <br />the discontinuance and abandonment of' said section of the street or roadway, provided <br /> <br />a new street is located and constructed across the Southern portion of the present <br /> <br />I-I. C. Lester Texaco Service Station property leading from the j}se Plant Road into <br /> <br />the East margin of the newly co mtructed Memorial B01uev2rd on the River Hill in the <br /> <br />City of llartinsville, Virginia; that part of the Dye Plant Road proposed to be <br /> <br />ab2Ddoned being more particularly described as follows: nAIl that certain lot or <br /> <br />parcel of real estate y{hich is now a p2rt of what is called Dye Plant Road in the <br /> <br /> <br />City of tiartinsville, Virginia, and which is more particularly described, to-wit: <br /> <br />BEGINNING at a point on the Easterly side of U. S.-V:irginia Highvmys No. 58 and 220 <br /> <br /> <br />where same are intersected at the present time by the West line of the said Dye <br /> <br /> <br />P12.nt Road, and running from said beginning point and across the said former Dye <br /> <br />Plant Road, S. 660 59' E. 40.88 feet to an iron which formerly marked the East <br /> <br /> <br />boundary line between the East side of the old Dye Plant Eoad and the V. H. Kirby <br /> <br /> <br />property now ovmed by tho City of Martinsville (see Deed Book 15, page 24 of the <br /> <br />City of Martimvllle Clerk's Office); thence with what ViaS formerly the Eastern <br />
