332 JANUARY 25. 1955 TUESDAY In acknovTledging the following letter from Nr. Benj amin F. Gravely, President-Treasurer of the C. Y. Thomas Estate, Council replied as follows: January 24, 1955 The Honorable Mayor and City Council, l1artinsville, Virginia Attention of Mr. George Brown Superintendent of Water and Streets Gentlemen: We sold to the City of Martinsvi11e about 35 acres of land now used for a school and a part, by deed dated October 10, 1939, recorded on page 70, of deed book No. 65 in the Henry County Clerk's Office, in which is this c1ause~ "It is further convenanted and agreed between the parties hereto that the party of the second part will, within two years from this date develop a well paved street along the North and East margin of the property herein conveyed and along the present lines laid down for the extension of Church street and along the East margin of property herein conveyed." Since we now contemplate developing about 40 acres of our l~nd near the tract sold to the City we request that the City make available at an early date a sewer line usable for the greater part of the land which we wish to develop. We suggest that the best way to lay this sewer line is to begL'1 on the East side of Church Street Extension near the School, and extend the line West to the rear of the School and down the hollow back of it. He have caused a water line to be nill on Booker Road at a total cost of about $2,250.00. A sewer line down this street could nmv serve only about 5 houses, whereas the one suggested could serve about 35 houses. \'le should appreciate irmnediate action in this matter e.s the erection of the 5 houses mentioned ah Booker Road will be started pronptly, on lots already sold.
