<br />.2 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NO\~ER 23. 1954 <br /> <br />of terms used in this ordinance and the rules and <br />regularions applicable to putting the same in <br />operation, reference is hereby made to the laws <br />of the State of Virginia for the assessment, levy, <br />and the collection of taxes for the current year, <br />or to so much thereof as is applicable to this <br />ordinance and is not inconsistent with it and the <br />general ordinances of the City; and for the conduct <br />and guidance of the officers of the City and other <br />parties affected by this ordinance, and for fixing <br />their powers, rights, duties and obligations, the <br />provisions of said laws, so far as applicable, are <br />hereby adopted, without being specifically herein <br />quoted." <br /> <br />With reference to an action of Council taken October 12, 1954 and to <br /> <br />complete the trqnsaction involved, Council authorized City }funager <br /> <br />Mathewson to execute an easement agreement with 11r. P. S. Ford whereby <br /> <br />the City would quit-claim and abandon the remaining unabandoned portion <br /> <br />of Matt Street, this action tm<en by a recorded vote, which was unanimous <br /> <br />of those Councilmen voting--Councilmen Welker abstaining because of <br /> <br />family ties and noting for the record that for this reason he had taken <br /> <br />no part in negotiations or any other things concerning this matter. <br /> <br />Mrs. Inez Ramsey Edwards appeared before Council and requested Council's <br /> <br />permission that she be allowed to locate permanently a house trailer <br /> <br />near the intersection of Bob Gregory street with the new Danville Road. <br /> <br />Al though mo st sympathetic with Hrs. :&hrard s' pro bIen and after explaining <br /> <br />not only the background for the adoption of the present ordinance governing <br /> <br />house trailers but also the complications that would result should an <br /> <br />exception tQ said ordinance be made, Council denied I'ITs. Edwards' request. <br /> <br />After receiving recommendations and proposed amendments to the City's <br /> <br />Traffic & Zoning Codes, relating to future drive-way openings and curb <br />
