The City Government has <br /> <br />endeavored to do its share in making this possible. Now that <br /> <br />times are becoming more stable we must go forward to enlarge <br /> <br />our spirit of cooperation with business and industry so that each <br /> <br />of our citizens may have good job opportunities at adequate rates <br /> <br />of pay. <br /> <br />Safe Comn.~ity <br />The development of a prosperous community is but a mockery <br /> <br />if it is not accompanied by a safe and spiritually sound enviro- <br /> <br />lnent. The united efforts of our churches, courts, Common- <br /> <br />wealth's Attorney, City Sergeant, police Department and the <br /> <br />rehabilitation prog1'am of our Prison Farm are filling a vital <br /> <br />role in our community life. Our lives and property are safe- <br /> <br />guarded day and night by our police force. Martinsville and <br /> <br />Lynchburg at the same time were the first two cities in the <br /> <br />State to place patroln.others at school crossings to protect <br /> <br />our children.
