Martinsville's school system is generally recognized <br /> <br />as equal to any in the State and superior among the citie sour <br /> <br />size. l,1artinsville business and industry is also being assisted <br /> <br />by the school system through the adult education and new trade <br /> <br />shops program. <br /> <br />The development of real estate into subdivisions is a most <br /> <br />significant aspect of our community's economic life. It <br /> <br />behooves the City Government to assist and cooperate with <br /> <br />the developer in every way possible. It is hoped that our sub- <br /> <br />division ordinance can be revised so that the City and developer <br /> <br />can consider thernselves as partners in providing good home <br /> <br />sites with necessary improvements for our citizens and <br /> <br />workers. Such a move should be economically beneficial for <br /> <br />the citizens and developer alike. <br /> <br />A forceful example of the City Government's desire to main- <br /> <br />tain and create wealth for the community is the Council' 5 <br /> <br />recent action calling for a complete economic study. This <br /> <br />study will determine what, where and type of business and <br /> <br />manufacturing sites are available. It will reveal what types <br /> <br />of industry would be helpful to the community and what type <br /> <br />would adversely affect existing industry.
