<br />24 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 27, 1954 <br /> <br />Through formal notice Council was advised of a public hearing to be conducted by <br /> <br /> <br />the State Corporation Cormnission in Richmond, Virginia on May 6, 1954 at 10:00 <br /> <br /> <br />A.M. on the proposed transfer of a bus operation certificate from A. B. Via, <br /> <br /> <br />trading as Rapid Transit Company, to Rapid Transit Company, Inc. <br /> <br />Council received and ordered filed a report on audit of the office of Trial Justice <br /> <br />M. H. MacBryde, Jr. for the calender year 1953, which report, as prepared by the <br /> <br />State Auditor of Public Accounts, indicated that the records and transactions of <br /> <br />this office had been kept and accounted for in an excellent manner. <br /> <br />A petition submitted by Mrs. Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee for Roy Marilyn Stone and <br /> <br /> <br />Roy C. Stone, Jr., t~~ough her Counsel, Attorney M. H. W~cBryde, Jr., requesting <br /> <br />the rezoning of property mvned by the petitioner and used for public utilivJ <br /> <br />services and a trucking terminal and storage yard by the R. P. Thomas Trucking <br /> <br />Company, Inc. between the New Danville Road and the Bob Gregory Street from its <br />present ZOILi.ng status to rtB_2 Businessll', was referred to the Planning Commission <br />for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />Upon recornrrendation of City Manager 1{lathewson, Council authorized the City <br /> <br /> <br />Manager to appoint a Temporary CitizenS r Committee to prepare and submit rec- <br /> <br /> <br />ommendations regulating public activities at and use of the City's new water <br /> <br /> <br />impounding reservoir and its adjacent property. <br /> <br />In response to the following letter dated April 27, 1954 from Attorney W. R. <br /> <br /> <br />Broaddus, Jr. on behalf of Mr. P. S. :F'ord,Council went on record as unanimous:q <br /> <br /> <br />accepting (Councilman J. R. Walker voting only "presentfl in as much as he has <br /> <br />
