TUESDAY

NOVEMBER 10. 1953

that the Commission is, in effect, recommending rezoning along
Route 220 for a depth of 200 feet and along DuPont Road for a
distance of 127 feet to a depth of approximately 50 feet. In
making this recommendation, the Commission took into consideration
the following facts:

(1) A portion of this property lies in the county along DuPont
Road and therefore is not subject to zoning ordinances.

(2) The property lying along DuPont Road on the south side and
also on the north side and in the county is at the present
time, almost wholly utilized for business purposes.

(3) This property is bounded on the north by a narrow street
known as Sunset Drive serving four houses, on the east by
Route 220 South, on the south by DuPont Road, and consists
of a lot only 55 feet wide fronting Route 220 and running
back to a depth of 327 feet.

(4) The property lying to the north of the McMillan property and
directly across Sunset Drive has only a house on it which
fronts on Route 220. The rear portion of the property is at
present un-occupied.

(5) It is felt that no public hearing by the Planning Commission
is necessary in view of the fact that the Commission has held
a public hearing on its previous recommendation covering the
majority of this property.

The Crnmnission respectfully presents this recommendation to Council
for further action.

In accepting the Commission's report and recommendation, Council called for a

Public Hearing on this rezoning request to be held December 8, 1953.

In its efforts to begin the widening of Bridge Street, Council authorized the
making of an offer of $10,000.00 to 141". P. S. Ford, owner of the Chime Clock

Service Station property at Church and Bridge Streets, for approximately 570
square feet of said property fronting on Bridge street (Councilman J. R.

Walker not voting), which offer was based on a recent appraisal of the entire

property (including improvements) by three disinterested local business men.

In receiving from City Manager Mathewson his report on the financial condition

of the City at the close of the first three months' operations ended September 30,
