That the Highway Department will submit a project for the <br />improvement of 1,219 miles of Route 220 within the City of Martinsville <br />from 0.028 miles west intersection Route 57 (Fayette Street) to 1.191 <br />miles east of intersection Route 57, from Sta. 266+50 to Sta. 331fOO, <br />designated as Route 220, State Project 1844-06-07, Federal Project <br />u-159(2), together with connections thereto as shawn on the plans, and <br />will recommend its approval by the Bureau of Public Roads for construction <br />with funds apportioned to the State under the Federal Highway Act as amended <br />and supplemented, subject, however, to the condition that the City of <br />Martinsville shall provide for its proper maintenance and the enforcement <br />of the non-parking regulations after completion of its improvement. <br /> <br />2. Martinsville hereby requests the Highway Department to submit the <br />aforementioned project with recommendation that it be approved by the <br />Bureau of Public Roads and agree that if such project is approved and <br />constructed by the Highway DepartIlEnt am. the Bureau of Public Roads, it, <br />thereafter, at its own cost and expense will maintain the project in a <br />manner satisfactory to them ar their authorized representatives, and will <br />make ample provision each year for' such maintenance. <br /> <br />3. Martinsville hereby agrees that the location, form and character <br />of informational, regulatory, warning signs, curb and pavement or other <br />markings and traffic signals, installed or placed by any public authority <br />or other agency shaD be subject to the approval of the Highway Department <br />with the concurrence of the Bureau of Public Roads. <br /> <br />~~ <br />i~ <br />i <br /> <br />4. Parking where permitted shall be parallel and adjacent to the curb. <br />No double or angular parking shall be allovled at anytime. <br /> <br />5. Where parking lanes have been provided, and parking is permitted, <br />the limits of the parking zones parallel to the curb shall be marked with <br />white paint at a distance of 7 feet from the face of the curb and the <br />limits of the parallel parking zone shall be marked by means of white lines <br />painted on the pavement perpendicular to the curb. <br /> <br />6. A t places where parking is prohibited, the appropriate "No Parking" <br />signs shall be erected. The size, design and color of such signs shall <br />conform to the standards as shown in the latest edition of the Manual on <br />Uniform Traffic Control Devices. <br /> <br />7. Except for short term emergency parking on the shoulders, parking <br />will be prohibited on the right and left between Sta. 266+50 to Sta. 307+00. <br /> <br />8.
