<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 28. 1953 <br /> <br />-' <br /> <br />Council's attention to a public hearing on primary highway allocations for <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />the Salem District to be conducted by the State Highway Department at Hotel <br /> <br />Roanoke, Roanoke, Virginia, at 8:30 A.H. on Hay 12, 1953, Council indicated <br /> <br />that a full representation from the City will be present at said hearing. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanLrnously carried, Council authorized City <br /> <br />Manager Mathewson to execute on behalf of the City a proposed contract between <br /> <br />.....- <br /> <br />the City of Marlinsville and the Town of Lexington, Virginia for the care of <br /> <br />certain prisoners of said Town of Lexington by the City's Prison Farm. <br /> <br />Pursuant to City Manager Mathewson's request of December 16, 1952, a special <br /> <br />committee appointed by ~U". Mathewson made a study and review of the City's <br /> <br />Electric Code, the result of which was found in the co~rnittee's recommendations <br /> <br />~- <br />i! <br />i <br /> <br />that certain parts of the Code be revised in accordance with the committee's <br /> <br />findings. Council, thereupon, called for a Public Hearing on said proposed <br /> <br />revisions to be held at the regular Council meeting the forthcoming May 12, <br /> <br />195.3 . <br /> <br />Council next received a rezoning request from Dr. H. P. Williams and Mr. W. B. <br /> <br />......-..., <br /> <br />Muse in which these petitioners, supported by numerous citizens of the area <br /> <br />involved, seek to have imposed limited business usage in a!1 area now zoned <br /> <br />as "B-1 Business" at or near Ailcle Street and Pine Hall Road. This request <br /> <br />was referred to the Planning Connnission. <br /> <br />,~- <br /> <br />Under the terms of a contract between the City of Hartinsville and Mrs. Lucille <br /> <br />Andes Weaver Ct'1:r. Rives S. Brown, Sr., Agent) under which the City now operates <br /> <br />its East Main Street Parking Lot, the Council unanimously voted to exercise <br /> <br />its option in said contract and extend the contract for two years from August <br /> <br />1, 1953, City }1a!lager Mathewson being authorized to act for the City in this <br /> <br />matter. <br />
