Pierce", attached to <br />said Petition, which seeks to vacate Surry Court as previously laid out and <br />re-dedicate Surry Court to enter Mulberry Road as a street 50 feet wide in <br />its entirety, slightly East of the intersection previously shown. Said <br />petitioners being the only owners of lots abutting on said Surry Court and <br />Lanier Farm, Incorporated being the owner of the fee simple title of <br />Surry Court as previously laid out. It appearing that vacation of the <br />original Surry Court and establishment thereof as shown on the revised <br />map is for the best interest of the City and in accordance with law, <br />therefore: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsv:ille in regular <br />meeting assembled, that the map titled, ltForest par}c, Revision of Lots 7, <br />8 and 9 of Section N; Surry Court, and a part of Lot Number 1 and Lots 29, <br />30 and 31 of Section P of Forest Park, Subdivision of Lanier Farm, <br />Incorporated, City of Martinsville, Virginia. Revising said lots and court <br />as previously shown on map of same by Harold B. Bursley, Civil Engineer, <br />July 1938 of record in the City of Martinsville Clerk'S Office in Map Book 1, <br />page 47, By H. S. Pierce" is hereby approved. The said map shall be duly <br />signed and authenticated by the proper officer of the City and admitted to <br />record in the Clerk'S Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Martinsville. <br />When the said map is properly recorded, Surry Court as originally laid out <br />on the map previously identified and dated 1938 shall be vacated and the map <br />hereby approved shall be the proper and official source of distances and <br />courses thereon shown. <br />The Clerk of the Council is directed to deliver a copy of this resolution <br />to the Clerk of the Circuit Court of the City of Martinsville. <br />The Clerk of the Circuit Court of the City of Martinsville is directed <br />to mark vacated Surry Court shown on map of same in Map Book 1, page 47, <br />herein referred to. <br /> <br />Upon reconnnendation of City Attorney Stone and Revenue Commission~Eggleston, <br /> <br />Council adopted the following amendment to its current Business-Occupational <br /> <br />License Tax Ordinance and, also, adopted the following ordinance to provide relief <br /> <br />under certain conditions for certain licensees called into the armed forces during <br /> <br />the Korean war emergency: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled February 24, 1953 that Section 19, Chapter II, <br />of the License Tax Ordinance of the City of Martinsville, 1949, be and <br />is hereby repealed. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ordinan:e shall be in effect from the date of <br />its passage. <br /> <br />".,--,--_..__......;~.--"".""..,~".'"..- <br />
