<br />)6 <br /> <br />JANUARY 13. 1953 <br /> <br />TUESDA Y <br /> <br />appear from the petition and map hereinbefore filed, and <br /> <br />\~rEREAS, it appears from the attached notice that notices were <br />duly posted as reQuired by Sections 15-766 of the Code of Virginia <br />of 1950 and Section 33-157 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, and <br /> <br />N()}l, THEREFORE, THE Council of the City of Nartinsville, Virginia, <br />does appoint the following named citizens of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, to view the street to be discontinued and to report unto <br />this Board their findings with special regard to whether or not any <br />inconvenience will result to abutting property owners from the <br />abandonment of the street proposed to be abandoned and the opening <br />of the streets proposed to be opened in its place and stead. <br /> <br />WHEREFORE, the Council of the City of Martinsville has caused the <br />r\layor of the City of Nartinsville to sign its corporate name to this <br />order, this 13th day of January, 1953. <br /> <br />Eembers of the Board of Viewers appointed are Stafford G. Whittle, III, R. A. <br /> <br />Henderson, Jr., DeHey H. Hurd, Thornas J. Burch, and J. Shelton Scales. <br /> <br />No definite action was taken by the Council on the matter of granting a new <br /> <br />franchise to the local Hapid Transit Bus Company, the matter being continued <br /> <br />a t the reque st of said Hapid Transit Bus Company. <br /> <br />In considering and discussing a proposed bond issue for local utility system <br /> <br />improvements, the Council took note of the services and assistance provided in <br /> <br />connection with municipal bond issues by the State Co~mission on Local Debt, <br /> <br />the Council agreeing to confer with said Commission to further explore the <br /> <br />possibility of obtaining the COP."Jnission's assistance. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and carried, Council appointed Mr. O. B. Hensley <br /> <br />to membership on the Board of Zoning Appeals for an unexpired term endbg <br /> <br />September 1, 1953, ffilcceeding Mr. E. H. Draper, resigned. Council ordered <br /> <br />an expression of its appreciation conveyed by letter to Mr. Draper for the <br /> <br />fine services rendered by him while a member of the Board and for continuing <br /> <br />to serve until his successor could be appointed. <br />
