4

TUESDA Y

DECEMBER 9. 1952

In response to Council's request of November 26, 1952, City Manager Mathewson

presented an estimate of the co st of constructing a new sel-Ter line for College

Street to replace the present line Which, not unlike many other lines in the

City, has been termed. in need of major repairs or replacement. In considering

this estimate, amounting to $2,548.49, Council concluded that such an

expenditure at this time could not be authorized not only because of the fact

that no sewer line or water line construction has been provided for in the

current budget but also because of the fact that there is no hope of funds

being available for this kind of work during the current year. Council,

furthermore, instructed its Clerk to convey in writing these findings to

Mr. P. S. Murphy, 112 College Street, Who on several occasions in the past

has appeared before Council requesting improvements in the sewerage facilities

~-
~~
on

~

on College street.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Co~mcil adopted the

following resolution in which the Council pledged payment of its share of twenty-

five per cent of the cost of construction and right-of-way for the proposed

Route 220 Thoroughfare and, also, in which the Council instructed its right-of-way

purchase option agent, Hr. Brooks Leavitt, to proceed immediately with issuing

in writing and in the form of legal notice to property owners involved (from whom

purchase options have not already been obtained) the amount or amounts which the

governmental agencies represented will pay without further proceedings for the

respective properties required:

,--
