50

TUESDAY

DECFlvIBER 9. 1952

The resignation of Mr. E. H. Draper (as of October 1, 1952) as a member of

the City's Board of Zoning Appeals was announced; however, COl~cil asked

Hr. Draper to serve until a replacement could be appointed, which appointment

Council hoped. to make in the near future.

In a final item of business, Attorney John Hartley, representing local theater

management, appeared before Council and continued. his appeal for the repeal

of the City's Amusement Admission Tax Ordinance or a substantial reduction

in the tax, suggesting that if the tax were reduced to five per cent the City

could offset the loss of revenue from this source by placing a five-per-cent

tax on local floral designs and on local hotel room rental. No action was

taken by Council.

Inasmuch as the next regularly-scheduled meeting of Council falls on the evening

before Christmas Eve, Council decided that it would postpone this meeting (of

December 23, 1952) until Tuesday, December 30, 1952 unless the pressure of

business to be considered by Council in the meantime justifies otherwise.

Council was adjourned.

, Clerk of Council
