<br />3~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 16, 1958 <br /> <br />Council received a request from the Community Recreation Center, Inc., asking that <br /> <br />taxes on property (located on Cleveland Avenue) pm'chased by this corporation on <br /> <br />July 1, 1958 from Messrs. 1;'Iilliam W. and John 1. Clingenpeel be waived from July 1, <br /> <br /> <br />19513 to December 31, 1958, inasmuch as the Corrnnunity Recreation Center, Inc., has <br /> <br />been determined as being tax-exempt. CO"lillcil, thereupon, instructed the City <br /> <br />Treasurer to relieve this tax-exempt corporation of such local real estate taxes as it <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />may have assumed on July 1, 1958 when acquiring the property. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council adopted a new and revised shared- <br /> <br />cost requirement of property owners for the construction of curb-and-gutter, effective <br /> <br />immediately but excluding an;:r projects now in process. Under this new requirement or <br /> <br />policy property ovmers will be required to pay eighty-five (85t) cents per front foot <br /> <br />~:!€~ <br />,\"0,.'", <br />;i..:'">' <br />.~ L.~' <br />,':g <br />~ <br /> <br />on properties frontiY\c':; on the streets on which curb-and-gutter construction is <br /> <br />authorized; however, in trlOse cases where c orner lots or pronerties are involved and <br /> <br />such corner lots front on streets other than those involved, the property- owners will <br /> <br />be required to pay thirty-five C35i) cents per foot for curb-and-gutter construe ted <br /> <br />on side lot lines. The record shows that Councilman Burch voted against the motion <br /> <br />and action adopting this revised policy. <br /> <br />By resolution, as follovTs, Council recommended to iA'1e state Highway Department Messrs. <br /> <br />T. J. Childress and R. A. Henderson, Jr., as appraisors and Mr. Marvin L.
