<br />~84 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER. 16..L 1958 <br /> <br />from its intersection with Fairy Street east to Bob Grego~J street in the <br />City of Martinsville, and <br /> <br />YnmHKI\S, it will be the responsibility of the City to negotiate for any <br />necessary right-of-way for this project, and <br /> <br />VI1-IEREAS, the City of Martinsville does not maintain an organization adequate <br />for acquiring the right-of-way as a part of its normal operating staff <br />needed for seCl1l'ing the right-of-way requ:ired for this project, <br /> <br />THEREFOHE, it is resolved at this regular meetinc of Council on December 16, <br />1958, that lclr. Marvin L. Hill, a qualified attorney-at-law, practicing in <br />the City of Martinsville, is hereby appointed as right-of-way negotiator <br />for the aforementioned project. <br /> <br />By a recorded and unanimous vote Council transferred from its General FUIld '8mergency <br /> <br />Account the sum of $750.00 with which to purchase food packages as Christmas gifts <br /> <br />to be distributed to all City emplo;)rees ac. the forthcoming Christmas season. Council <br /> <br />also declared Friday, December 26, 1958 as a holiday for City employees. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from the 1958 Board of il,ssessors, who advised Council that <br /> <br />the Gl1rrent re-appraisal of local ta:x:able real estate is nearly completed, Council <br /> <br />established a ratio of fifty (50%) per cent of assessed valuation to appraised <br /> <br />valuation of such proporty, effective January 1, 1959. <br /> <br />Councilman Brown requested tliat City Manager Hirst present at the first Council <br /> <br />meeting in January, 1959, a detailed survey report of City-mmed motorized equipment, <br /> <br />including a classification of such vehicles, their aGe and usage and their original <br /> <br />cost. <br /> <br />C o'JYlc:Ll determined that its next regular meeting "rill be held December 30, 1958 <br /> <br />instead of December 23, 1958, as originally schemlled. <br /> <br />C ouneil was adjourned. <br /> <br />'i') <br />I <br /> <br />" <br />.", '- <br /> <br />,--/ <br /> <br />w.
