<br />;18 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 27. 1958 <br /> <br />credit against local business license taxes for similar taxes paid other <br />jurisdictions on business done in those jurisdictions. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unaminously carried, Council adopted the <br /> <br />following ordinance amending the City's Plumbing Code: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-seventh day of May, 1958, <br />that the Plumbing Code of the City of Martinsville be and is hereby' <br />amended to provide that the sections of said Code hereinafter set <br />forth shall read: <br /> <br />Section 144. Vitrified clay pipe and other types of pipe <br />permitted. <br /> <br />All vitrified clay ar concrete pipe shall <br />conform to the American Society far Testing <br />Materials nstandard specifications for clay <br />sewer ar concrete pipe" (serial designation <br />C thirteen-thirty-five). <br /> <br />In no case shall any house sewer be covered <br />at the joints until the plumbing inspectar <br />inspects these joints to see that they are <br />made according to specifications as detailed <br />herein. The Public Warks Department shall <br />have the right to require any house sewer <br />to be uncovered for inspection if it is back- <br />filled in violation of this section. <br /> <br />Section 166. New Materials <br /> <br />Any new material placed on the market after <br />the adoption of this code, which is approved <br />by a recognized testing agency as meeting <br />all the requirements of the National Bureau <br />of Standards, and which the Department of <br />Inspections approves being equally efficient, <br />may be permitted. <br /> <br />Section 216. Material <br /> <br />'!'he house drain shall be of cast-iron and shall <br />extend outside the outer face of the building <br />wall a distance of five feet. The house sewer <br />beginning at a point five feet beyond the outer <br />face of the building wall shall be of cast iron. <br />It is further provided that any minor repairs to <br />or replacement of less than 60% of the house sewer <br />may be with vitrified clay pipe. Any major repairs <br />ar replacement of a house sever exceeding 60% of <br />the developed length of the line shall cause the <br />entire line to be replaced with standard weight <br />cast iron pipe. <br />
