Council continued the <br /> <br />license tax stuqy to its mxt regular IMeti~. <br /> <br />Council took no action on the proposed ordinaa::e providing for revisions in the <br /> <br />Pluni::>ing Code other than, after hearing objections from Mr. Victor Lester to the <br /> <br />proposed revisions, placing the ordinance on third reading. <br /> <br />By a recorded and unanimous vote, Coumil adopted 1:he following resolution guaranteeing <br /> <br />funds required of the City for the widening of Memorial Boulevard between Bridge <br /> <br />street and Fayette Street: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, certain emergency funds have been made available by the Federal Bureau <br />of Public Roads on a matching fund basis, 16 2/3% City, 16 2/3% State, and <br />66 2/3% Federal, for highway construction in cities, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville can qualify for these funds only on a section <br />of Project 1844-06-07 because of the time limit placed on the use of these funds <br />and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this project is a necessary one for the City and a material savings to <br />the City can be effected by participating in such project; NO\II[, THEREFCRE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martirnville' in meeting assembled <br />this 13th day of May, 1958, that the City of Martinsville partici'pate with the <br />VirgL nia Department of Highw~ on a matching fund basis of 16 2/3% cost to the <br />City, 16 2/3% cost to the State and 66 2/3% cost to the Federal Bureau of Public <br />Roads, in the widening or Memorial Boulevard to a four-lane divided Distribution <br />Road, between its intersection with Bridge Street and its intersection with <br />Fayette Street, upon the condition that this construction can be undertaken and <br />completed within the tim3 limits as set forth by the Federal Bureau of Public <br />Roads for the use of its money on the matching fund basis as herein above stated. <br /> <br />Also, by a recorded and unanimous vote, Council order the transfer of $5,000.00 <br /> <br />appropriation from the General Fund's Subdivision DeveloIJllent account to the Water <br /> <br />Fund's Primary Routes account to supplement available funds for the construction of <br /> <br />water and sewer lines on Memorial Boulevard ootween Bridge and Fayette Streets. <br />
