<br />~2 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 12, 1957 <br /> <br />At the expiration of the five day period, any dog not so claiDed by its <br />owner may be disposed of by giving it into the possession of any person will- <br />ing to pay the ccet of impounding, vaccination and license. If any dog is <br />not disposed of wi thin the ten day period it shall be killed in a humane <br />maImer by the impounding officer. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-10 Appointment of impounding officer. <br />An impounding officer shall be appointed by the city manager and may be <br />assigned to such departnental supervision as may be desirable. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-11 Establishment of pound; duty of impounding officer. <br />There shall be established a pound in such place as the council may <br />designate. It shall be the duty of the impoun:ling officer, or his duly <br />authorized agent, to capture and imprison, in accordance with section 2-9 <br />in the city pound all dogs running at large in violation of this ordinance. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-12 Account of monies collected by impounding officer; <br />payment into treasury. <br />An accurate account shall be kept of all monies collected by the <br />impounding officer or any of his agents and the same plid to the city <br />treasurer not less frequently than the last day of each month. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-1.3 Wrongful removal of tags. <br />No person shall wrongfully remove from the neck of any dog any metal <br />tag hereinbefore specified. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-14 Female dogs in season. <br />It shall be unlawful for the owmr of any female dog to permit such dog <br />to stray from his pt"emises while such dog is knavrn to the owner to be in <br />seas on. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-l5 Dangerous or vicious dogs. <br />It shall be unlawful for any person to permit or allow a dangerous or <br />vicious dog to run at large in the city. Any dog that has been known to <br />attach or attempt to attack or injure any person, animal or fowl, or to damage <br />or destroy anything of value shall be termed a dangerous or vicisou dog. Such <br />dog shall be kept confined upon the premises of the owner, and if removed .from <br />the premises, shall be secured by a leash in the hands of a person able to <br />control such dog, or shall be kept confined ins ide a vehicle or cage. <br /> <br />Any violation of this section shall be punished as pr'ovided in section 1-6 <br />of the Code of the City, and should the owner of such dog fail or refuse to <br />comply with the terms of this section, the court may order such dog killed. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-16 Quarantine of dogs. <br />When in the judgment of the City Health Director an emergency shall be <br />deemed to exist in the city or any section thereof, due to a widespread rabies <br />epizootic, for the protection of the public health, the Health Director may <br />declare a quarantim in the ci1u or such section thereof as may be affected, <br />and restrict all dogs to the owners premises and/or to the immediate custody <br />of a responsible person for the duration of such emergency as it is set .forth. <br />
