<br />2~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 24, 1957 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unl?nimously cerried, Council agreed to the <br /> <br />amending of its prior action involving the purchase of the E. A. Sale <br /> <br />property at the southeast corner of Church and Moss Streets by stipulating <br /> <br />that the notes previously authorized executed shall be seven in number, <br /> <br />five-thousand dollars ($5,000.00) each, and shall run concurrently for one <br /> <br />year's dvration. This action by Council reconciled the discrepancy between <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />the agreement executed by the City and Hr. &: Mrs. Sale and the deed conveying <br /> <br />the property to the City. <br /> <br />Jl1r. Leon Globman, Chairman of the Citizens I Parking Committee, appeared <br /> <br />before Council and reported that the committee, while continuing its work <br /> <br />on the total commuJJ.ity off-street pa~'ldTle; IJroblems, has reached an under- <br /> <br />~. <br />5~ <br />=>=:;. <br />"~ <br />'-' <br /> <br />= <br /> <br />standing with the Richardson heirs, owners of the "Chestnut Street Parking <br /> <br />Lot" property, whereby the eit;), can reactivate the Chestnut Street Pe.rking <br /> <br />Lot operation (discontinued July 6, 1957) upon conditions inclvdirg the <br /> <br />operation of the parking lot within the present ins:1.de ct,ro without prejudice <br /> <br />to either party with respect to the seven-foot strip of land, ownership of <br /> <br />which is in controversy. Mr. Globman and his committee recorr~ended that the <br /> <br />Ci t;y enter into an agreement with the Richardsons under these conditir)m' e.nd <br /> <br />reS1.:ffie the operation of the lot. Council expressed its appreciation to the <br /> <br />committee for its efforts and accomplishment and authorized for City Manager <br /> <br />Hirst's signature a lease agreerr:ent to be prepared h3r City Attorney Stone <br /> <br />setting forth the conditions already approved by Council. <br /> <br />In connection with the proposed sewerage system in~rovement program, approved <br /> <br />by Council September 19, 1957 subject to the bond election to be held <br /> <br />November 5, 1957, Council expressed its desire that al1 information pertinent <br /> <br />to the program and the bond election be assembled and presented to the public <br /> <br />through various available media. <br /> <br />---_._-_.._----.~,.
