Council was informed by Mr. George W. Brown, <br /> <br />Director of the Water-Street Divis ion, that resurfacing of a section of this street <br /> <br />is scheduled around the forthcoming July 1st; therefore, no action was required of <br /> <br />Coure il. <br /> <br />In receiving the follovring report from :Mr. Brooks R. Leavitt, City Real Estate Agent <br />Report to the Ci tv Council on the auction sale on City property <br />and property owned jointly by the City and County of Henry, <br />held on ,June 9, 1956. <br /> <br />.""'''!t.. <br /> <br />Our auction sale cOrmIBnced on the North end of Memorial Boulevard at 10:00 A.M., <br />Saturday, June 9th, and we were most fortunate in having excellent weather <br />throughout the day. We adhered to the time schedule as advertised and indicated <br />in the brochure and all property was sold according to this schedule. The sale <br />was well attended and bidding on all properties was active. <br /> <br />Our brochure, copy of .'/hich is attached, set forth, in addition to the survey of <br />the property, the easements which were being retained by the City of Martinsville, <br />the zoning regulations and available utilities. In addition to this all of this <br />information was clearly armounced at the sale and is contained in the sales <br />contracts which had been prepared in advance of the sale. We allowed ten days <br />for the c losing of all sales contracts and Y.r. Irving McGhee and I are in the <br />process of preparing deed descriptions and references from which Mr. Stone can <br />prepare the dee ds . <br /> <br />The property consisting of 33.95 acres owned jointly by the City of Martinsville <br />and County of Henry and unpleasantly referred to as the Old Garbage Dwnp or <br />Pest House Property brought a high bid of $6,225.00.
