<br />32 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 12, 1956 <br /> <br />This shall not prohibit the use of sailboats if they are individually <br />determined to be safe. It shall be the duty of the caretaker or <br />designated city employee to cause such boats to be inspected upon <br />each application for license, and to see that all boats comply with <br />the standards prescribed. 1,ftlhenever, upon such inspection, it shall <br />be found that the boat inspected does not comply with such standards, <br />it shall thereupon be the duty of the inspector to notify the owner, <br />proprietor or agent in charge of such boat to forthwith comply with <br />such standards and no permit shall be issued until such time as <br />compliance is made. With the license herein provided for, there shall <br />be issued a metal tag or disc for each boat showing the year of such <br />inspection and such other information as the City may deem necessary, <br />which tag or disc must be affixed to some prominent place on the bow <br />of the boat. There shall also be painted conspicuously on the after <br />quarter a number corresponding to the number of pounds of weight <br />authorized to be carried therein and no owner, agent or lessee shall <br />allow more than that number of pounds of weight to occupy said boat <br />at any time. In order to authorize the maximum number of poinds of <br />weight for a boat, the inspector shall accurately determine its <br />capacity in cubic feet, divide this number by 12, and multiply the <br />quotient by 150 poUnds. <br /> <br />Every boat shall have sufficient room, freeboard and stability to <br />carry safely the maximum weight as allOV'red by the formula as referred <br />to above t ogethe r with whatever tackle, equipment, machinery, fuel <br />and supplies that are aboard, which fact shall be determined by actual <br />tests in the water. Freeboard is the maximum exposed height of the <br />side of the boat above the water surfacr. The freeboard shall not be <br />less than the followi~: <br /> <br />Depth of Boat (Inches) <br />12 <br />18 <br />20 <br />30 <br /> <br />Minimum Freeboard (Inches) <br />2-3/4 <br />3-3/4 <br />5-1/3 <br />6-1/2 <br /> <br />All permits issued relative to boats shall be good only during the <br />calendar year of issuance. A permit may be transferred to successive <br />owners of the boat, but it shall not be prorated. <br /> <br />Fees to be charged for boating privileges shall be as follows: <br /> <br />a. $20 per boat annual fee for mooring privileges for private <br />boats to be left on lake, or $5.00 per month. <br /> <br />b. 50~ per private boat per day, inspection and in-and-out fee, or <br />$3 .00 per year. <br /> <br />3. Speed <br /> <br />AIT;! operator of a boat shall at all times navigate same in a careful <br />and prudent manner and at such ratEt of speed as not to endanger the <br />property of another or the life and limb of any person.
