An area of approximately 20 acres is hereby designated as a recreational <br />area for the purposes herein set forth as shewn on a map in the files of <br />the Engineering Division of the City of Martinsville and subject to all <br />the rules and regulations as set forth herein. <br /> <br />Recreational privileges are hereby classified as: <br />(a) Fishing (b) Boatirg (c) Picnicking <br /> <br />No person shall endanger, contaminate or pollute the watershed area. <br /> <br />No person shall enter or remain upon any portion of the area while in <br />possession of firearms or fireworks nor discharge aqy firearms or fire- <br />works while there. <br /> <br />No person shall swim or bathe in the reservoir. No pets, dogs or other <br />domestic animals shall be permitted to run at large in the area. <br /> <br />No person shall engage in aqy con:urercial activity wi thin the area except <br />pursuant to a sre cified contract with the City. <br /> <br />Private notices and advertisements shall not be posted, distributed, or <br />displayed in the reservoir area except such as the City Manager or his <br />authorized representative may deem necessary far the convenience and <br />guidance of the public using the area for recreational purposes. <br /> <br />11. The City shall maintain an unbroken strip of land which it now owns <br />around the water IS eage am entranc es to the reservoir shall be at the <br />recreational area at a point as designated by the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />A. Fishi~ <br /> <br />1. It shall be lawful for all persons who shall comply with these <br />regulations and the laws of the Commomvealth of Virginia to fish <br />within any unrestricted area between one hour before sunrise am <br />one hour after sunset without paying aTW fee to the City for the <br />privilege. <br /> <br />2. Fishing shall be permitted from boats, from the shore, and when <br />established, from fishing piers; but not from boat piers or within <br />any boat docks. No fish of any kind taken from the water of the <br />area shall be bartered. <br /> <br />B. Boating <br /> <br />1. Boating shall be perrni tted on the reservoir I"Jhenever the area is <br />open for recreational purposes; except as herein limited. <br /> <br />2. Any person desiring to place a boat upon the reservoir, either for <br />regular or temporary use, shall secure a permit therefor from the <br />caretaker or designated city employee. Only boats of a safe and <br />substantial type and structure shall be allowed on the reservoir <br />and this shall exclude canoe-type boats, hydroplanes or other racing <br />craft, kayaks, metal boats without adequate air chambers, rafts and <br />any other boat which, in the opinion of the inspector, is unsafe. <br />
