<br />30 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 12, 1956 <br /> <br />operations, Council decided to take no action on said request pending study of the <br /> <br />1956-57 budget and the Tax Study Advisory Group's recommendations on other license <br /> <br />tax categories. <br /> <br />Council was advised that the Retail Merchants' recent suggestion that "downtown" <br /> <br />directional signs be placed on Memorial Boulevard is still being considered by <br /> <br />Traffic & Planning Engineer Irving R. McGhee. <br /> <br />Council was also advised that the matter of closing a portion of Lavirrler street is <br /> <br />now in process. <br /> <br />Council, next, adopted by resolution the following regulations governing the use <br /> <br />of the City's Beaver Creek Impounding Reservoir for recreational purposes, directing <br /> <br />City Attorney stone to petition the Circuit Court to appoint the caretaker: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPI'Il'G RUlliS AND REGUIA TIOm GOVERNING THE USE OF BEAVER CREEK <br />HIfPOUNDING RESERVOm AND OTHER AREAS ADJACENT THERETO <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, this <br />twelfth day of June, 1956, that the following rules and regulations shall <br />apply to the City's Beaver Creek Impound~ Reservoir area only for purpos es <br />hereinafter set forth: <br /> <br />General Provisions: <br /> <br />1. Whenever c ondi tions cause the area or any part thereof to become hazardous <br />for recreational purposes, in the opinion of the City Manager or his <br />designated representative, said City Manager or designated representative <br />may forthwith close the area or the part thereof rendered hazardous until <br />suc h hazardous conditions terminate or are abated. <br /> <br />2. Recreational privileges permitted in the City of Martinsville Reservoir <br />Area may be discontinued in part or in full for any length of tine to <br />preserve the safety of the water supply, or for other reasons, by the <br />City Manager or his designated representative. <br /> <br />3. No person shall be permitted to go upon or remin on any part of the water <br />area as controlled by the City of Martinsville except between one hour <br />before sunrise and one hour after sunset. This shall not restrict <br />picnicking in the designated areas during these hours. <br />
