<br />3j <br /> <br />TUES DA Y <br /> <br />MAY 23, 1961 <br /> <br />Council also called for a public hearing to be conducted June 13, 1961, on the C. Y. <br />Thomas Estate's petition filed with Council May 9, 1961, requesting the rezoning of <br /> <br />its property located on the south side of Brookdale Street adjacent to the east <br /> <br />boundary of the Prillaman & Pace property, on which petition the Planning Commission <br /> <br />presented the follm"ling report and recorronenda tion: <br /> <br />The Plannirg Commission, at its meeting on May 17, comidered a petition <br />submitted by the C. Y. Thomas Estate, through its agent, T. J. Childress, <br />Jr., requesting the rezoning of certain properties lying on the west side <br />of Brookdale Street immediateJy adjacent to property owned by Prillaman & <br />Pace from A-I Residential to B-1 Business. <br /> <br />After due consideration of this matter, the Commission (with Mr. Childress <br />abstaining from the voting) voted to recorronend to Council the approval of <br />this petition as submitted. <br /> <br />The Commission, in making this recommendation, gave consideration to the <br />following facts: <br />1. That the property in question lies :immediately adjacent to an area <br />zoned for B-1 Busiress and directly across the street from property <br />zoned for B-2 Business. <br />2. That this property is not logically si tuated, from the standpoint of <br />good planning, for use as residential property. <br />3. That because of its location (almost surrounded by business properties) <br />it was not felt that a public hearil'l?: in this mDtter would be required. <br /> <br />The above recomnendation is submitted for Council's further consideration. <br /> <br />Council unanimously accepted an offer of Henderson & Henderson, by Mr. R. A. Henderson, <br /> <br />Jr., to contribute the sum of $1,275.00 to the City's sewerage system improvements <br /> <br />program if the City will comtruct a sewer line to serve three residences now under <br /> <br />construction by Mr. Henderson on Farmington Court upon the condition that the City <br /> <br />is not committed to comtruct said sewer line within any given period of time and <br /> <br />upon the condition that Lanier Farm approval is given. As a matter of record, Mr. <br /> <br />Rives S. Brown, Jr., President of Lanier Farm, Inc., was present and personally and <br /> <br />verbally gave Lanier Farm'S permission. <br /> <br />Coundl unanimously reappointed II..r. Charles C. Broun to membership on the City School <br /> <br />Board for a three-year term beginning July 1, 1961, and accepted with regrets the <br />
