<br />2~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 24. 1961 <br /> <br />.-'-' <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />Council indicated that the City of l~rtinsville is willing to pay no more <br /> <br /> <br />t}oan the depreciated cost of these facilities and that it desires to resolve <br /> <br /> <br />the matter by acquiring the facilities as soon as possible; meanwhile, Councn <br /> <br /> <br />directed City Manager Hirst to inform Appalachian officials not only of <br /> <br /> <br />the foregoing but also to instruct Appalachian to halt its expansion of <br /> <br /> <br />services in the annexed area, pointing out that Anpalachian has no franchise <br /> <br />from the City to serve any nart of the area. <br /> <br />,,-. <br /> <br />Mr-. R. p. Gravely, Jr., President of the Martinsvil1e-Henry County Airnort <br />Development Corporation, by letter s11ggesteo that a contract hetween the City <br />and the Corporation, not included in the new five-year contract dated January <br />1, 1961, be so included in order that its term coincide with the new contract. <br />Although Council declined to combine said two contracts, it did express its <br />intention of negotiating an extension of the older contract or lease agreement <br />at its extliration to parallel the term in the new contract. During its consideration <br /> <br />of this s"Gggestion, Council received from City 11anager Hirst several alternative <br /> <br />delopment plans for the airport property, particularly pointing out some potentials <br /> <br />if adjacer..t property might be included in an overall industrial develonment <br /> <br />nrogram in the area. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst briefly report on past as well as pending conferences with <br /> <br />officers of the Forest Park County Club towards obtaining an easement across the <br /> <br /> <br />club property for installation of a Seifer mal n in accordance with plans for the <br /> <br /> <br />City's sewerage system improvement progr~~. }~. Hirst also brought to CounCil's <br /> <br /> <br />attention the urgent need of providing permanent sewerage disposal, especially for <br />the Druid Bil1s area, part of which along Indian Trail is now connected to the <br />Indian Trail sewer line served by a septic tank below lake Lanier orginal1y <br />designed and intended to accommodate the Druid Hills elementary school.
