<br />25: <br /> <br />T)$SDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 27. 1960 <br /> <br />,-- <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that since the last Cmh~cil meeting he has proposed <br /> <br />a daily rate of $1.68 to Henry County officials for the board-and-keep of City <br /> <br /> <br />prisoners confined at the Henry County Jail and that, subseq'Jently, the Henry <br /> <br /> <br />County Board of Supervisors (on December 19, 1960) went on record as demanding <br /> <br /> <br />a rate of $2.00 per prisoner per day, retroactive to July 1, 1960. Upon motion, <br /> <br /> <br />. duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted the two-dollar rate <br /> <br /> <br />demanded by the County upon the condition that medical expenses of City prisoners <br /> <br /> <br />while confined in the Henry County Jail will be borne by the County of Henry. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst also reported that a study is in progress pertaining to the <br /> <br /> <br />water drainage problem recently cited by 111:-. Eddie NOI'T:lent, of the Music Bar, <br /> <br /> <br />on East r~n Street and that permanent alleviation of the condition would involve <br /> <br /> <br />considerable expense; whereupon Council suggested that the study be discontinued <br /> <br /> <br />and that temporary measures be pursued from time to time towards alleviating the <br /> <br /> <br />drainage condition. <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />The Council was advised by the State Compensation Board that the salary and expense <br /> <br /> <br />requests of the local constitutional officers for the calendar year 1961, as <br /> <br /> <br />approved and recommended by Council October 11, 1960, have been granted by the <br /> <br /> <br />Compensation Board; whereupon Council appropriated fram its General Fund <br /> <br /> <br />Emergency Account the total sum of $691.67 to meet the City's increased requirements <br /> <br /> <br />for these offices for the remaining six months of the City's fiscal year. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation <br /> <br /> <br />a petition submitted by Mr. F. B. Hill requesting the rezoning from "A-2 Residential" <br /> <br /> <br />to ltB-1 Business" the rear portion (some fifty feet) of a lot owned by him and <br /> <br /> <br />located on Memorial Boulevard adjacent to other property owned by him. <br />
