<br />~22 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OC TOBER 11, 1960 <br /> <br />The Planning Commission, at its regular meeting on October 4, 1960, <br />considered the aruninistrati ve problems involved with the zoning of <br />property knovrn as 15 Cleveland Avenue, Inc. <br /> <br />After much discussion of this matter, the Commission decided unanimously <br />to make the following recommenda~ion to Council: <br /> <br />That the present zoning ordinance of the City be amended to <br />include tlvo new zoning classifj cations; i.e., P-l Professional <br />district and P-2 Professional district. <br /> <br />The complete amend1rent, as recoIllJl1mded above, is attached hereto: <br /> <br />The Cormnission is of the opinion that this amendment to the present <br />ordinance will alleviate certain problems that exist or might exist <br />in the administration of the present ordinance as to recent rezonirg <br />am will add generally to the flexibility of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Your Commission respectfully submits the above recommendation fOl.'" <br />Council's further consideration. <br /> <br />At City lJanager Hirst's request, Council deferred consideration of a proposed <br /> <br />review of the City's capital improvements program and needs. <br /> <br />Council concurred with Councilman Burch in reactivating the Citizens Parki~ <br /> <br />C orr.mi ttee and in asking the present members of the committee to recorrnnend nominees <br /> <br />for rrembership on the cormnittee, such nominees to include consumer representatives. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />resolution corrnnending and congratulating the Martinsville Junior Chamber of <br /> <br />Commerce and its Steerirg Committee upon their completion of the Corrnnunity <br /> <br />Recreation C enter located on Cleveland Avenue: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Junior Chamber of Commerce, with true <br />recognition of and earnest concern far the recreational needs of the <br />citizens of Martinsville, has recently completed and placed in <br />operation, under its supervision, its very handsome Community <br />Recreation Center on Cleveland Avenue, this city; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this structure not only is a credit to the community but also, <br />in itself, is a tribute to the imagimtion, daring, zeal, and dedicated <br />purpose of this organization of fine young men; now, therefOl."'e, <br />
