Ford, Council received from Nease-Wheeler-Blackard <br /> <br />a petition requesting abandonment and release of a water line easement across <br /> <br />this firm's property on Memorial Boulevard adjacent to Lavinder Street. Council <br /> <br />deferred action on this request pending completion of a study by the Manager a~d <br />the City's Engineering Division. <br /> <br />Lt. Charles Martin, commanding officer of the local squadron of the Civil Air <br /> <br />Patrol, appeared before Council and requested that a tract of land within the <br /> <br />City's airport property be marle available to the Air Patrol unit for location <br /> <br />of housing facilities. COllncil suggested that Lt. Martin confer with City Manager <br /> <br />Hirst on this .matter. <br /> <br />-. <br /> <br />In response to an appeal from Mr. J. Pierpont Lester, Council authorized U'e <br /> <br />construction (on the City's shared-cost basis) of curb and gutter along Mr. Lester I s <br /> <br /> <br />property at 1222 Ranson Road and along an adjoining vacant lot (not owned by <br /> <br /> <br />1~. Lester), Mr. Lester agreeing to pay the property owner's share. <br /> <br />Coundl referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and reCOIJ1lT,endation, <br /> <br /> <br />a request from the Virginia-Ca.rolina Freight Lines that their property--consisting <br /> <br /> <br />of a lot 60' x 150 '--located at the corner of First and B Streets be rezoned from <br /> <br />"residential" to "business". <br /> <br />--,----..---...--------- <br />
