<br />1~ <br /> <br />TUES nA.Y <br /> <br />AUGUST 9, 1960 <br /> <br />Streets, Martinsville City, Virginia, as shown on map styled nMap of <br />Property belonging to Annie W. James II made by T. S. Moore, dated <br />DeceIl'ber, 1924, recorded in Map Book 2, Page D of Henry County Clerk's <br />Office and there personally viewed the above mentioned Streets and beg <br />to report as follows: <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />'That by reason of the topography of said realty and that the rights- <br />of-wa..V of these two Streets as shown on the aforesaid map are only forty <br />feet, each, in width, the same are unsuitable for the development as <br />public Streets; that there is no feasible need for the same; that Third <br />Street is wholly surrounded by the property of the Morris Novelty <br />Furniture Corporation and the lands of the Appalachian Electric Power <br />Company and lies between Watt Street and the right-of-way of the Carolina <br />and Northwestern Railroad; that at the time and place of the view, rep- <br />resent.atives of the Appalachian Electric Power Company were present and <br />stated that the said Third Street was not required by them as they <br />already have all necessary mans of ingress and egress to their property <br />from Watt Street; that Fourth Street is wholly surrounded l:u the lands of <br />Morris Novelty Furniture Corporation; and, they therefore recommend that <br />said Streets, which have never been formally accepted by the City, be <br />vacated and abandoned. <br /> <br />s Is. Morse <br /> <br />Council also agreed to view on August 16, 1960, the Drewry property and plans for <br /> <br />its proposed usage, 'Which property--located at the southeast corner of Cleveland <br /> <br />and Church streets--Council recently rezoned to "B-l Businessrr subject to the <br /> <br />establishment of set-back lines in keeping with long-range planning for the area. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that the Planning Commission has considered the question <br /> <br />of set-back and now recommends that thirty-foot set-back lines be made applicable to <br /> <br />both street sides of the lot. Mr. A. C. Dre'WIj7" and his counsel, Attorney Marvin L. <br /> <br />Hill, along with a representative of the company interested in leasing the property <br /> <br />for business usage, were present and reviewed tentative plans for the development <br /> <br />of the pro operty. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that the City may exercise its option, provided under <br />~ <br />Section 4 of its contract dated July 26, 1955 with Mrs. Lucille Andes Weaver, for <br />
