Appearing on behalf of Mrs. Weaver was Mr. <br /> <br />Rives S. Brown, Jr. Council took the proposal under advisement. <br /> <br />After receiving the following report and recomnendation of the Planni~ <br /> <br />Commission--pertaining to the petition referred to the Commission by Council on <br /> <br />June 14, 1960 wherein was requested by Mrs. Mattie B. Ames and Mrs. Lucille <br /> <br />Weaver, and by Mr. Maynard H. Shelton, Jr., through their counsel Attorney Frank <br /> <br />I. Richardson, Jr., the rezoning to "B-1 Busiressfl (for l:iJnited professional <br /> <br />usage) of property on Oak dale Street occupied by Shelton's Pharmacy--Counci1 <br />called for a duly advertised public hearing (Under Section :15-822 of the Virginia <br /> <br />Code) to be condu::ted by Council at its next regular meeting scheduled for <br /> <br />August 23, 1960: <br /> <br />Your Planning COImnission, at its meeting on July 27, 1960, gave final <br />consideration to a petition referred to them by Council. <br /> <br />This petition was presented to Council by Mr. Rives S. Brown, Jr., as <br />agent for Mrs. :Ma ttie B. Andes and Mrs. Luc ille Weaver, and Mr. Maynard <br />H. Shelton, Jr. The petition requested the rezoning of property occupied <br />by Sheltonls Pharmacy lying on the west side of OakdaJ.e Street from A-l <br />Residential to B-1 Busiress. <br /> <br />The COlIDI1ission has had this petition under consideration for several <br />meetings. The Commission, at its meeting on July 27, voted unanimously <br />to nake the following recomnemation to Council: <br /> <br />That the petition, as presented, be granted. <br /> <br />The following facts were considered by the Commission in making its <br />decision: <br />1. It is the opinion of the Commission that ultimately this area should <br />be available for medical use. <br />2. That under its future planning, this general area is to be continued <br />for the present as predominantly residential until such time as a <br />definite need is developed for a Professional classification. <br /> <br />Your Commission respectfully submits the above recomnendation for Councills <br />further consideration. <br />
