<br />L52 <br /> <br />TUESDA Y <br /> <br />APRIL 12, 1960 <br /> <br />City Hanager Hirst presenter] a statement of estimated cost--total and the City's <br /> <br />proportionate share--of the Routes 57-58 reconstruction project, as well as <br /> <br />appropriation requirements of the City. <br /> <br />City I'~nager Hirst reported that, as a result of his contacting owners of property <br /> <br /> <br />located on the south side of East Church Street from Broad Street to Ellsworth <br /> <br /> <br />Street, it appears that there is a reluctance on the part of these property <br />o"rners to make available right-of-11ay to widen this block of &"lst Church Street <br />(on the s -::ruth side) to the w'idth that will be possible in front of the GIobman-owned <br /> <br /> <br />property for which i-ridening the Globman interests have offered riGht-of-way a~ld <br /> <br /> <br />Council on ~arch 22, 1960 indicated that it will accept. <br /> <br />Under date of April 12, 1960, the Planning COmrrDssion recommended that the property <br /> <br />owned by Nease, l:rneeler, & Blackard, Inc., fronting OD Hemorial Boulevard (North) <br /> <br /> <br />immediately 1.Jest of the Fayette Street intersection, a portion of ,.Jhich is already <br /> <br /> <br />zoned as "13-1 Business", be rezoned to "13-1 Business" i-Tith the understanding that <br /> <br /> <br />where high embankments are left b the grading of this property, pa:;::-ticularly <br /> <br /> <br />adjacent to Smith-Rucker Road, a suitable fence will be erected for the protection <br /> <br /> <br />of school children and children living in the area and, also, with the understanding <br /> <br /> <br />that the corporation will make every effort to cooperate with the City in the proper <br /> <br /> <br />handling of traffic in and out of the area, when and if developed. Council accepted <br /> <br /> <br />the Planning Commission report and called for a duly-advertised public hearing on <br /> <br /> <br />the proposed rezoning at Council's next regular meeting scheduled for April 26, 1960. <br /> <br />A petition, submitted by I~. A. C. Drewry and }~s. Freda D. Worthington and <br />requesting the rezoning of their property located at the soutLeast corner of <br />Cleveland Avenue and Church Street (from "A-1 Residential" to "B-1 Business") was <br /> <br />referred to the Planning Cornnission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />
