<br />L32 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 23, 196q <br /> <br />in its curb-and-gutter construction policy by considering all of the Stone property <br /> <br /> <br />as a c orner lot (actually one lot being a corner lot on Fayette and Secorrl Streets <br /> <br /> <br />with a depth on Second Street of 180', thus eligible for the 35-cent rate, and the <br /> <br /> <br />remaining lots fronting on Second Street for a distance of 560'), with the under- <br /> <br /> <br />standing that no driveway entrances shall be constructed by the City along the <br /> <br /> <br />Stone property. <br /> <br />Council continued its study of plans made several years ago for the development <br /> <br /> <br />of the City's "Airport Property", suggesting that the local Chamber of Connnerce <br /> <br /> <br />be invited to study this matter with Council. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from City Manager Hirst, Council suggested that represent- <br /> <br /> <br />atives of manufacturers of both cast-iron pipe and asbestos-cement pipe be invited <br /> <br /> <br />for a limited appearance before Council to present the merits of their respective <br /> <br /> <br />types of pipe. Meanwhile, Council sugges ted that data be obtained on such pipe <br /> <br /> <br />from the Federal Bur-eau of Standards and the Institute of Testing. <br /> <br />Council approved for Mayor Shultz I signature and execution on behalf of the City <br /> <br /> <br />an agreement containing a deed of easement from the Norfolk & Western Railway <br /> <br /> <br />Company for roadway right-of-way under their trestle and on their right-of-way <br /> <br /> <br />or property near and leading to the proposed sewage disposal plant site across <br /> <br />Smith River from property formerly known as "Fontaine Converting Worksrr. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from Mr. M. E. Sprinkle, President of the Martinsville <br /> <br /> <br />Go-Kart Club, as to making available a portion of the City I s fl Airport Propertyrr <br /> <br /> <br />for use by the club, Council suggested that the club representatives confer <br /> <br /> <br />with City Manager Hirst and City Attorney Taylor towards preparing a lease <br />
