Attorney Warren Shaw represented Ramsey-Baldwin Corporation, petitioners. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved for Mayor Shultz' <br /> <br />signature and execution on behalf of the City an electric power contract with the <br /> <br /> <br />Appalachian Power Company, subject to clarification of listing of industrial customers <br /> <br /> <br />to be continued as Appalachian's customers within the corporate limits and subject to <br /> <br />inclusion of provision relating to relocating of Appalachian's facilities on City <br /> <br /> <br />right-of-way if necessitated by construction or reconstruction of City facilities. <br /> <br /> <br />This contract and agreemnt will run for ten years, with automatic two-year extensions <br /> <br />unless otherwise notified in accordance with provisions of the contract, and will <br /> <br /> <br />replace the present- power contract operating under extension of the contract expired <br /> <br /> <br />December 31, 1958. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Council continued for further consideration the City School Board's request for <br /> <br /> <br />approval of their application for a loan of some $77,000.00 (presented to Council <br /> <br />February 9, 1960) from the Literary Fund of Virginia, Council inviting School Board <br /> <br /> <br />representatives to appear before Council at its next regular meeting to discuss <br /> <br /> <br />the application. <br /> <br />Upon being advised that property owners on Second Street have obtained participation <br /> <br /> <br />funds for the construction of curb-and-gutter on said street only upon the comition <br /> <br />that the Roy C. Stone property (Virginia-Carolina Freight Lires) be treated as a <br /> <br /> <br />corner lot and, as such, would require 35~ per lineal foot participation by the <br /> <br /> <br />owner of said property instead of the usual 85~, Council agreed to make an exception <br />
