E. G. Ramsey and S. H. Baldwin, owners of property between Hemorial <br /> <br />Boulevard and West Church street near Sellers and Fayette Streets, who recently <br /> <br />requested the closing of that portion of Sellers Street adjacent to their <br /> <br />property, appeared before Council and requested that the City bear some of the <br /> <br />cost of relocating a sewer main across their property. Council determined that <br /> <br />the owners-petitioners shall bear the entire cost of said sewer main relocation, <br /> <br />with the exception of forty-six feet on Hemorial Boulevard. <br /> <br />Members and representatives of the City School Board presented a statement <br /> <br /> <br />anticipating a need for some $77,000.00 additional funds to complete and equip <br /> <br /> <br />the new Martinsville High School Gymnasium and, also, to complete certain other <br /> <br /> <br />projects. The School Board asked for Council's approval of an application for <br /> <br />a loan of $77,000.00 from the Literary Fund of Virginia, Council indicating that <br /> <br /> <br />it will render its decision on this request at Counci11s next regular meeting. <br /> <br />...."""""" <br /> <br />An inquiry relayed from Messrs. E. L. Pierce and D. D. Palmer as to whether Council <br /> <br /> <br />is interested in selling the residue of the "old incineratorlf property near Smith <br /> <br /> <br />River was acknowledged, Council suggesting that Councilman Burch view the property <br /> <br /> <br />and report back to Council. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council took no action on a proposed motor vehicle license tax ordinance to become <br /> <br />effective 1l19,rch 15, 1960, pending the determination of applicability of certain <br />provisions in said proposed ordinance to leased vehicles and to trailer sections <br />of tractor-trailer units. <br />
