There being no objections registered to this <br /> <br />proposed rezoning, Council adopted the following ordinance effecting said <br /> <br />rezoning and amending the City's Zoning Code and Map~ <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this 14th day of December, 1965, that <br />the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be, and is <br />hereby, amended to reclassify--for zoning purposes--to I1C-3 Commercialfl <br />Lots Nos. 4, 5, and 6 of the Longview Subdivision fronting the east <br />side of Chatham Road near Bob Gregory Street as well as all properties <br />(not already so zoned) fronting the east side of said Chatham Road <br />between East Church Street and a lot identified as "Lot No. 811 <br />between Bob Gregory and Blankenship Streets. <br /> <br />Also pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on W. M. Bassett Furniture Company's rezoning petition, submitted <br /> <br />October 12, 1965, requesting an "M-3 Industrial" classification of its <br /> <br />property consisting of approximately 19 acres off Pace Street. There being <br /> <br />no objections registered to this proposed rezoning, and having received <br /> <br />approval of the petition from the City's Planning Commission, Council adopted <br /> <br />the following ordinance effecting said rezoning and amending the City's <br /> <br />Zoning Code and Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this 14th day of December, 1965, that <br />the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be, and is <br />hereby, amended to reclassify--for zoning purposes--to I1M-3 Industriall1 <br />those tracts of land, consisting of a total of approximately nineteen <br />acres, owned by W. M. Bassett Furniture Company and located between <br />Pace Street and the Norfolk & Western Railway Company's right-of-way <br />adjacent to the present plant site of W. M. Bassett Furniture Company, <br />excepting that an area between the northeast line of Forest Street and <br />a line fifty feet northeast of and parallel thereto remain in its <br />present IIR-6" classification. <br /> <br />Also pursuant to a duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the proposed amending of the IISign Sectionll of the City's Zoning <br /> <br />Code, which proposal carried the Planning Commission's approval.
