<br />4 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 14. 1965 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, December 14, <br /> <br />1965, beginning at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall. All members <br /> <br />were present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-~yor F. T. Renick, M.D.; <br /> <br />Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After tee invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held November 23, 1965. <br /> <br />Continuing its consideration of the proposed rezoning (to "C-1") of the K. C. <br /> <br />Whittle property on the northeast side of Brookdale Road, on which proposal <br /> <br />Council conducted a duly-advertised public hearing at its November 23rd meeting, <br /> <br />Council adopted the following ordinance effecting this rezoning and amending <br /> <br />the City's Zoning Code and Map, explaining that members of Council have viewed <br /> <br />the property involved and that--in their opinion--such rezoning would not <br /> <br />adversely affect the residential properties in the area, as claimed by opponents <br /> <br />to this proposed rezoning: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this 14th day of December, 1965, that <br />the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be, and <br />are hereby, amended to reclassify--for zoning purposes--to t1C-1 <br />Commercial" that property owned by K. C. Whittle and located on the <br />northeast side of Brookdale Road, beginning at the most northerly <br />boundary line of said property and extending to a line perpendicular <br />to Brookdale Road at a point opposite the intersection of curb-8nd- <br />gutter at Brookdale Road and Spruce Street, all for a depth of three <br />hundred (300) feet from said Brookdale Road. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />,..... <br /> <br />on a petition--enlarged and approved by the Planning Commission--to rezone a <br /> <br />section of the east side of Chatham Road to IIC-3 Commercial", as submitted by <br /> <br />Mr. Clarence C. Donavant on October 12, 1965, relating to Lots Nos. 4, 5, and <br />
