<br />4~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br />--- <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 9. 1965 <br /> <br />Pursuant to recommendation of Mr. George W. Brown, Director of Public 'works, <br /> <br />Council authorized the constructing by the City of a six-inch water line <br /> <br />extension along a portion of Morgan Street to serVe residential properties not <br /> <br />now being served. <br /> <br />Upon being advised that there would be no conflict with current space-and-usage <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />assignments (to the National Guard units and to the City's Recreation Department), <br /> <br />Council granted the City School Board permission to use a portion of the former <br /> <br />National Guard Armory (building), on Water Street, to accommodate needs and <br /> <br />expansion of the School System's Industrial Arts-Vocational Training program. <br /> <br />In acknowledging receipt of a purchase offer from Frith Construction Company <br /> <br />for a tract of land in the City's Industrial Park, Council unanimously authorized <br /> <br />the sale of this tract--consisting of approximately nine acres of land adjacent <br /> <br />to the so~th side of Norfolk & Western Railway Company's main siding in the <br /> <br />Park and east of the intersection thereof with the present access road to the <br /> <br />airport runway--for the cash sum of $30,000.00 and for development in accordance <br /> <br />wi th plans presented to Council. <br /> <br />By written report, the Commissioners of the election held November 2, 1965, <br /> <br />certified that the following citizens were elected and/or re-elected to the <br /> <br />following City offices, for terms beginning January 1, 1966: <br /> <br />John W. Bouldin, Jr. <br />James L. Carter <br />John J. Hartley <br />Deward B. Hanel <br />J. Louis Beckner <br />A. V. Krupski <br />Robert L. Draper <br /> <br />Treasurer; <br />Sergeant; <br />Co~monwealthrs Attorney; <br />Commissioner of the Revenue; <br />Justice of the Peace; <br />Justice of the Peace; and <br />Justice of the Peace. <br />
