M. Bassett Furniture Company <br /> <br />(through its counsel, Broaddus, Epperly and Broaddus, Attorneys at Law), <br /> <br />requesting the rezoning from "R-6 Residential" to _M-3 Industrialll that <br /> <br />property owned by petitioner, consisting of a parcel off Forest Street and <br /> <br />a parcel along Courtland Street, total of approximately twenty acres of ~lnd. <br /> <br />Council deferred action, pending formal presentation by Mrs. Erie Sue Ramsey <br /> <br />(through her attorney, Mr. W. R. Broaddus, III), on a petition involving <br /> <br />property exchange with Mrs. Ramsey and a street vacation of East Church Street <br />(Route 58 East) . <br /> <br />In acknowledging the retirement from the Fire Department of Mr. Richard Warren, <br /> <br /> <br />as of September 30, 1965, and in expressing appreciation to Mr. Warren for his <br /> <br /> <br />faithful and continuous service as a member of the City's Fire Department since <br /> <br /> <br />January 1, 1944, Council went on record as establishing for retiring employees <br /> <br />some appropriate gift (not to exceed $50.00 in cost) in recognition of their <br /> <br />services, this policy to be retroactive to date yet to be determined. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, a petition from Mr. Clarence C. Donavant requesting the <br /> <br />rezoning of his property at the southeast corner of Myrtle Road and Chatham <br /> <br />Road (Lots 4, 5, and 6 of Longview Subdivision) from IIR-9 Residential" to <br />"C-3 Commercial". <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst notified Council that bids will be received on November 16, <br /> <br /> <br />1965, for the construction of approximately 5,000 feet of sewer lines to <br /> <br /> <br />serve an area described as "Spruce Street, Jefferson Circle, and Mulberry Road", <br />
