4::

TUESDAY

SEPTEMBER 28, 1965

-..

any relief in this situation would involve some change from the City's

current policy.

To extend the small curb-and-gutter projects recently completed along the

north side of Cherokee Trail from Arrowhead Trail west to Park Court,

Council authorized the construction (on a shared-cost basis) of additional

clITb-and-gutter along the properties of Mr. Ted Hamre (President of Lansdown,

Ltd.) and others, located at 1011, 1009, and 1007 Cherokee Trail.

Coum~il referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and

recommendation, a petition submitted by Mr. Stafford G. Whittle, III, on

behalf of Mr. K. C. Whittle, requesting the rezoning for specified business

usage of Mr. K. C. Whittle's property on Brookdale Road, beginning at the

western-most boundary of the Whittle property and extending some 1360 feet

to the end of a triangle at the eastern end of the one-way section of Brookdale

Road at its intersection with Spruce street, opposite Windsor Lane.

,-

Attorney Marvin L. Hill appeared before Council as representative for

Mr. George R. McDermitt, owner-operator of Druid Lanes Bowling Center at

1051 Spruce street, seeking an amendment to Section 10-27 of the City Code

whereby the Bowling Center could install and operate several billiard tables

in conjunction with the bowling alleys. As is presently contemplated for the

billiard tables, this phase would be in conflict with Section 10-27 as to the

location of these tables and as to visibility from street level; and, being of

the opinion that conditions--which prompted the enactment of (or 1958 amendment

to) Section 10-27--no longer prevail as relate to the proposed billiard table

operation by Druid Lanes, Council instructed City Attorney Cubine to prepare a

draft of a new amendment to this section so as to make lawful the operation of

billiard tables as contemplated.
