<br />Council acknowledged receipt of--and filed for review--the following
<br />
<br />petitions requesting the construction of curb-and-gutter on a shared-
<br />
<br />cost basis:
<br />
<br />(1) York Street, by the Church of God of Prophecy; also, the
<br />
<br />widening of this street for which the church would donate
<br />
<br />right-of-way along its property;
<br />
<br />(2) Whittle Road; and
<br />
<br />C3 ) that portion of Cherokee Trail in front of the Stanley
<br />
<br />Giddings property, not already included in plans for
<br />
<br />curb-and-gutter construction at the intersection of
<br />
<br />Cherokee Trail and Arrowhead Trail.
<br />
<br />Council also acknowledged receipt of Audit Reports prepared by the State
<br />
<br />Auditor of Public Accounts, on the following offices:
<br />
<br />(1) Municipal Court, for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1964; and
<br />
<br />
<br />(2) Commonwealth Revenues from the office of the City Treasurer,
<br />
<br />John W. Bouldin, Jr., for the period January 13, 1964 through
<br />
<br />June 30, 1964.
<br />
<br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council adopted the following
<br />
<br />resolution in connection with the proposed resurfacing (with Plant-Mix)
<br />
<br />of that section of Chatham Road from Banks Road to the northeast corporate
<br />
<br />limits, this being a section of a State primary route and the cost of which
<br />
<br />(estimated at $7,000.00) to be borne by the State for 85% and by the City
<br />
<br />for 15%, the City's share being provided for in the forthcoming 1965-66
<br />
<br />budget:
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia,
<br />in regular meeting assembled this 25th day of May, 1965, that it
<br />doth hereby request the Virginia Department of Highways to resurface,
<br />with plant-mix, that section of Route 57 (Chatham Road) lying within
<br />the City's corporate limits from Banks Road to the City's north
<br />corporate limits; and,
<br />
