Morris, of Morris Oil <br /> <br />Company, to connect to the City's water and sewer utility lines a new <br /> <br />service station to be constructed on the west side of Route 220 South, <br /> <br />beyond the duPont intersection, outside the City's corporate limits <br /> <br />and subject to prevailing tariffs and regulations. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a petition requesting the construction <br /> <br />by the City (on a shared-cost basis) of curb-and-gutter in front of <br /> <br />two properties on the south side of Belmont Street below Pace Street. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst informed Council that advertising for bids have been <br /> <br />placed for the construction of a raw water pumping station at Beaver <br /> <br />Creek Reservoir, and for the installation of two 5,000,000 g.p.d. pumps <br /> <br />(operating alternatingly) by which the supply of raw water equal to <br /> <br />tr0atment capacity of the City's filtration plant can be assured. <br /> <br />Council was also informed of the need in the near future of a water <br /> <br />storage tank in the area of East Church Street and Booker Road. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized <br /> <br />the executing by City officials of an agreement with the Norfolk & <br /> <br />Western Railway Company, permitting the City to cross the railway company's <br /> <br />right-of-way with electric power lines near the railway company's Memorial <br /> <br />Boulevard overpass. <br /> <br />_. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst called Council's attention to an inadvertent error in the <br /> <br />Ci ty IS Zon.ing Code pertaining to side-yard set-back requirements for corner <br /> <br />lots in the "R-16 Residentialll districts. The Zoning Board having advised <br /> <br />Council of its lack of jurisdiction in a case recently brought before the <br /> <br />Board involving this matter, Council referred same to the Planning Commission <br />for its consideration and recommendation. <br />
