The Public Works Department shall keep an accurate <br />daily record showing the number of gallons treated, and the <br />fluoride ion concentration of the water before and after <br />treatment. Said department shall also determine the fluoride ion <br />concentration in the distribution system at such points and at <br />such intervals as may be directed by the City Health Director. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Health Director shall have general supervision <br />over treatment of the public water supply with fluoride and the <br />Public Works Department is directed to furnish to the said health <br />department copies of records specified under Section 2, at daily, <br />weekly, and monthly intervals as may be required by the City <br />Health Director. <br /> <br />Section 4. The City Health Director is hereby directed to make <br />periodic reports to the City Manager on the fluoridation of the <br />public water supply and to seek the cooperation of educational <br />and scientific institutions in conducting surveys and research as <br />to the beneficial effect, if any, of the program and project on the <br />citizens of this cow~unity. <br /> <br />Section 5. Funds necessary for the purchase of equipment, supplies, <br />facilities and materials for this introduction of fluorine shall be <br />provided in the 1965-66 fiscal year budget of the City. As soon as <br />such funds are available said purchase shall be made and the process <br />and procedures hereinabove provided inaugurated. <br /> <br />Pursuant to City Manager Hirst's memorandum recommendation of April 26, 1965, <br /> <br />Council directed the increasing of estimated revenue from the sale of motor <br /> <br />vehicle license tags by $29,000.00 and appropriated from this source a like <br /> <br />amount to the Thoroughfare Street Program; and, further, Council directed <br /> <br />the increasing of estimated revenue from the recently-increased utility tax <br /> <br />by $25,000.00 which Council appropriated to its Municipal Building Facilities <br /> <br />account, all within the current budget and in accordance with 1IPlan 5" <br /> <br />approved January 12, 1965. <br /> <br />Pursuant to and in keeping with the recommendation of the Planning Commission, <br /> <br />Council granted the petition of Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Ramsey, requesting permission <br /> <br />to extend the City's water main for a distance of approximately 100 feet along <br /> <br />Edgewood Place, outside the City's east corporate limits, to serve a residence <br /> <br />being constructed on said street. <br />
