Clyde Hooker, Sr., as a member of the Mayor's <br /> <br />Committee on Public Relations. Council also acknowledged with <br /> <br />appreciation Mr. Hooker's outstanding service to the community as a <br /> <br />memb~0f this committee and expressed its best wishes for Mr. Hooker's <br /> <br />speedy recovery from his illness. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from Councilman Harry L. Boaz, City Manager <br /> <br />Hirst explained that the Council's requested draft of a Smoke Abatement <br /> <br />(or Air Pollution) Ordinance will be presented to Council in the near <br /> <br />future. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a petition from residents of Letcher Street <br /> <br />requesting the construction by the City (on a shared-cost basis) of curb- <br /> <br />and-gutter along Letcher Street from Armstead Street to Community Park and, <br /> <br />also, the request for improvements to this street, the need for which was <br /> <br />supported by Public Works Director George W.
