3~ TUESDAY --- APRIL 13. 1965 Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council unanimously amended Sections 6.1 and 8.1 of the Cityls "Leave Regulations for City Employees", adopted March 27, 1962, to provide that h8urly-paid employees of the City shall become eligible for the annual leave provided therein after completion of one year of continuous service, commencing with the second year of service. Council acknowledged receipt of a report on--and evaluation of--the City's parking meters, including I'i=cvenue therefrom, as prepared by Traffic-Planning Engineer Irving R. McGhee. Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council unanimously adopted the following ordinance amending Section 16-45 of the City Code whereby the date for renewal of taxi-cab drivers' certificates shall be renewable annually between May 1st and May 31st, beginning with the year 1966: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this thirteenth day of April, 1965, that Section 16-45 (of Division 4, Article II, Chapter 16) of the Code of the City of MartinsvilLe, Virgi nia (1956, and as amended) be and is hereby amended to read as foLlows: Section 16-45. Expiration; renewal and renewal fee; renewal of health certificate. The initial certificate as issued a driver shall expire as of the first day of June next following the date of issuance, unless ~300ner revoked. ALl drivers' certificates shall be renewed annually between May first and May thirty-first of each year. Renewal of each certificate shall be subject to the approval of the chief of police and subject to the driver's having no record of violating any sections of this article. Ii fee of two dollars ~)hall be paid to the city for each renewal certificate. A renewal health certificate shall accompany each application for the renewal of a driver's certificate. Each holder of a driver's certificate shall furnish ~he city manager with a renewal of his health certificate at the expiration of each successive six months' period following the issuance to him of such driver's certificate. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that all such driverssl certificates already issued, which shall have become effective April 1, 1965, or subsequent to said April 1, 1965, shall be automatically extended to June 1, 1966, unless otherwise revoked.
