No one appeared <br /> <br />in opposition to such rezoning; whereupon Council unanimously adopted the <br /> <br />following ordinance effecting the rezoning and amending the City's Zoning <br /> <br />Code and Zoning Map correspondingly, as recommended by the Planning Commission: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this thirteenth day of April, 1965, that <br />the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be, and <br />are hereby, amended to classify--for zoning purposes--as IIP_1 Prof- <br />essionalll all those properties fronting the south side of East <br />Church Street, between Starling Avenue and Oakdale Street. <br /> <br />Also pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the peition submitted January 26, 1965 for Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee, <br /> <br />requesting the rezoning to IIM-3 Industrialll of a 78-acre tract of land located <br /> <br />on the west side of Rives Road Extended near the City's south corporate <br /> <br />boundary. There being no objections registered to this proposal, and same <br /> <br />having been approved--along with other recommendations--by the Planning <br /> <br />Commission's letter of March 5, 1965, Council unanimously adopted the following <br /> <br />ordinance effecting said rezoning and amending the City's Zoning Code and <br /> <br />Zoning Map in accordance therewith: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this thirteenth day of April, 1965, that <br />the Zoning Code and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be, <br />and are hereby, amended to classify--for zoning purposes--as IIM-3 <br />Industrialll that tract of land, consisting of seventy-eight acres, <br />located on the west side of Rives Road Extended near the City's south <br />corporate boundary, and owned by Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee. <br /> <br />By letter dated April 9, 1965, the Planning Commission reported that on March <br /> <br />18, 1965, the Commission conducted a public hearing on (1) the petition <br /> <br />submitted to Council on February 9, 1965 by Mr. R. S. Brown, Jr., and others, <br /> <br />requesting the rezoning to IIR-6 Residentialll of a six-acre tract of land <br /> <br />lying immediately north of and adjacent to the Elks Club property fronting <br />
