<br />:78 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 9. 1965 <br /> <br />By resolution presented by Mr. Hal Prillaman, the Martinsville Junior <br /> <br /> <br />Chamber of Commerce cited its conviction that an unified recreational <br /> <br /> <br />program--both as to physical facilities and as to current operations-- <br /> <br /> <br />is highly desirable for the City and, to develop such a program, a <br /> <br />comprehensive study by consultants in this field should be authorized. <br /> <br /> <br />This organization also urged Council to appoint a Steering Committee and <br /> <br />empower same "to secure a professionally supervised survey of the city <br /> <br />recreation program, facilities and projected needs". The group further <br /> <br />requested the employing of a full-time recreation director, pending <br /> <br />findings of the requested survey. The cost of the survey was estimated <br /> <br /> <br />at $5,200.00, to be completed within a period of ninety days, toward <br /> <br /> <br />which the Junior Chamber of Commerce agreed to donate the sum of five <br /> <br /> <br />hundred dollars. Council acknowledged with appreciation this group's <br /> <br />interest and study, agreeing to appoint the Steering Committee but with- <br />holding action on other requests. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst informed Council that, pursuant to an agre~ent dated <br /> <br />March 7, 1962, with Lanier Farm, Inc., relating to the planning by the <br /> <br />City of the Mulberry Creek Interceptor sewer line and the planning by <br /> <br />Lanier Farm for the development of area outside the City's east corporate <br /> <br />limits and northeast of Forest Park Country Club, a street known as <br /> <br /> <br />Courtney Terrace (adjacent to and intersecting Country Club Drive) <br /> <br /> <br />extending approximately 600 feet was omitted from the agreement involving <br /> <br /> <br />development of Country Club Drive. Upon motion, Council authorized the <br /> <br />including of Courtney Terrace, by addendum or letter, in the original <br /> <br />contract or agreement and in accordance with the terms therein. City <br /> <br />Manager Hirst also informed Council that Country Club Drive has been <br /> <br />designed for paving by the developer to a width of twenty feet, meeting the <br />
