<br />36: <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 23, 1965 <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />By letters, the Martinsville High School's Student Cooperative Association <br /> <br />and the Principal of the school expressed appreciation to Council for recently <br /> <br />allowing the students to use one of the City's automatic voting machines in <br /> <br />a student election. <br /> <br />At the request of City Manager Hirst, presentation of the Annual Report of <br /> <br />the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company, for 1964, was postponed to a later <br /> <br />date. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the following bids for the construction of <br /> <br />2,425 feet of six-inch water lines and 2,064 feet of eight-inch sewer lines <br /> <br />to serve Arrowhead Trail, Tomahawk Trail, and a portion of Cherokeo Trail~ in <br /> <br />connection with the development of property in the area by Lanier Farm, Inc., <br /> <br />under the City's subdivision requirements: <br /> <br />Hackler-Seymour Metal Works, Inc. - - - - - - - - - $19,872.00; and <br /> <br />Prillaman & Pace, Inc. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 18,363.00; <br /> <br />whereupon, Council accepted the low bid of Prillaman & Pace and authorized the <br /> <br />construction of said water and sewer lines. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a petition requesting the construction by the <br /> <br />City (on a shared-cost basis) of curb-and-gutter along Belmont Street, from <br /> <br />Forest Street to Pace Street. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council continued for study a petition submitted by some fifty-two residents <br /> <br />and property owners in the Ranson 11.oad-Oakgrove Avenue area, requesting the <br /> <br />opening of an unopened portion of Ivy Street between Ranson Road and Oakgrove <br /> <br />Avenue. <br />
